The Stables At Creekside Glen

The horses are also helping with the work of the Lord's Kingdom! The Stables At Creekside Glen Ministry goal is to work with at-risk children while sharing Jesus with all who come. This ministry is located in nearby Letcher County. It features 15 acres of pastures, a stable, and trails. A grant is currently being written that will allow this specific ministry to help troubled youth. Construction work for this project is currently in progress. We are also seeking the donation of horses and riding equipment.

The stable ministry has proven to be one of the most unique ministries of Southeastern Kentucky. Last summer we hosted a riding camp with 15 participants and, of course, they brought their entire families to watch the activities. Steve Hamson of Belle Rive, IL, was our professional instructor and teacher for the week. He was able to use the horse and tack as an analogy to share the Lord Jesus with all who were there. The kids and adults were able to go from grooming to riding solo in three days!!! Many had never been near a horse or even touched one. The Lord did great work. We plan to do another camp this year should the Lord send the instructor. Also a ferrier school was held with three enrolled. This was a week long event and had wonderful results. At the same time a professional horse trainer worked with our horses and gave riding lessons.

Currently we are in the process of selecting local teens to assist in an ‘internship’ program. They will learn horse care, facility maintenance and riding. The big plus is we will be able to share Christ one on one with the teens.

The horse drawn carriage and Rocky, the big Belgian horse, will be returning this year and a full slate of fall activities are already in the works.

Please pray with us that our Father will send just the right person to direct this exciting and important ministry. It has limitless possibilities! Keep ridin’ on faith.
