Blanchard is a retired business executive with experience in the field of computer science. He has served as both Sunday School teacher and as a Baptist Deacon. His son John serves as a Baptist pastor. His daughter Cherie has a career in the field of substance abuse counseling. His son Gerald serves as webmaster for Meridzo Center Ministries. Blanchard also has six grandchildren.
